Your questions about home based business opportunities

by Steve Duval on April 15, 2011

Donald asks…

Online Business Systems – what’s involved? Anyone know what they require you to do? I can’t find any details.?

Business Opportunity presented is an online method of operating an Herbalife International ® independent distributorship.”

Are there any better online home-based businesses out there?

Steve Duval answers:

Do NOT get tangled up in stupid product pyramids. Honestly, have you ever heard of anyone, in your entire life, who buys that stuff and isn’t also selling it? Then what makes anyone think there’s a customer base out there?

The absolute best business you can start at home is your very own, based on your own skills, that you register yourself. http://www.sba.gov and http://www.score.org have lots and lots of resources for budding business owners. If you start something based on skills and not product or inventory, your startup costs aren’t much more than your registration and some business cards.

Robert asks…

is there anyone who is involved with reverse funnel system or carbon copy pro system?

online marketing, mlm, home based business, business opportunity, internet

Steve Duval answers:

Both work the same way – I would suggest you go to ripoffreport and do some reading before you jump into Carbon Copy Pro – search on jay kubassek. What you will find is that CCP is a lead in for Wealth Masters International and there are several reports on WMI.

Jay was once with Liberty League, a company known by some to be one of the worst companies out there and if Mike Dillard really supports this type of operation, then he just dropped a notch in my book.

Please, do some research before jumping into something. Lot’s of people get burned when they don’t. $49 monthly may seem like a fair price; however……..

To suggest, as the site clearly does, that it is a format to sort out the real entrepreneurs from the wannabes is ludicrous. According to the FTC, NO home based business should cost more than $500 to start. What you are sorting out in reality is those who have more money to risk than others – $1200+ versus less than $500?????

And stating there is a money back guarantee may sound safe to some, but I have known many ‘questionable sites’ stating that. Stating it doesn’t make it so….

“Basically what Carbon Copy Pro has done is create a funnel system that invites prospects to their company. CarbonCopyPro was released after The Reverse Funnel System by Ty Coughlin, but it works very similarly. The users of the system pay a monthly fee of $49 to use Jay Kubassek’s branded information.”

You should be out there branding yourself, not someone else and there are a lot of other ways to do it, cheaper or for free. I do understand that the terms ‘turnkey’ “no cold calling”, etc … are attractive since cold calling is a HORRIBLE thing to have to do for most and is not duplicatable by the masses.

Ty Coughlin is back-dooring people into Global Resorts. I would be wary of both. Any system where your money made is basically from sign ups is either an illegal pyramid scheme or just one step above it.

I wrote a blog/hub on advice for working from home. I would invite you to read it as it is not a commercial, just straight facts on what to look for, how to search, things to avoid. I probably should have included this type information also, but didn’t. If you are interested in reading the article, you can find the link in the 2nd paragraph of my profile here on answers. There is also a hub by a famous MLM attorney who explains the difference between legit businesses and pyramid schemes.

Please also understand that any link on that site to income generating sites ARE NOT recommended by me. I have no control over what hubpages places as advertising on their site or my pages. PLEASE do your homework before getting sucked into these things.

Lizzie asks…

Why do you think you failed at….?

your last home-based business opportunity?

Steve Duval answers:

not enough inventory.

John asks…

Should I mess with another man’s wife ?

OK. I got a story to tell. Met this 29 year old woman, in a
newspaper ad, looking for a home based business opportunity.
We talked, and got to know one another. The conference calls
became, late night personal calls. She started asking me a lot
of personal questions, about my life, and family. A Virgo, this
woman…. I get to go on a biz trip with her. Turn it down. Got
this bad feeling. Could be a setup. Her friends and associates,
were all in on it, together. Now after a premonition, of this
woman, and her wonton ways. She still lied to me, about
who she was. And played like she was a saint. But does
whatever she wants, even with her husband. And old man,
who she married for money. So, should I keep doing
business, with this woman, in a few weeks ? Or should I
just leave it ? We are still friends, but not talking right now.
After she was confronted by me, via mail. So who knows the
truth. Who is this beautiful mystery woman. A black widow,
perhaps?

Steve Duval answers:

I’m sorry..I couldn’t get past the”another man’s wife” part! Get your own wife!

CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
This company operates what is called a work at home scheme. We suggest you listen carefully to the entire report to understand what this promotion is. It is important to know that almost all work at home schemes end up with complaints even though they may have none when they first start. They usually go out of business or face government action. Most work at home schemes involve stuffing envelopes, mailing circulars, or sending for information packets from a list of addresses. The promoter may tell you that it is all ‘legitimate’ or ‘approved by the Post Office.’ It is not! The promoter may claim you can earn lots of money working from home. They may also state that, due to an increase in the use of home computers and the Internet, this is a ‘home based business opportunity.’ If it involves stuffing envelopes or mailing circulars, it is a work at home scheme and you will lose your money. No real employer would pay you to sit at home and do these jobs in this era of high tech mass mailing. Since this BBB was founded in 1921, we have never seen any consumer make money at this unless they were running the scheme. You should know that US Postal Inspectors investigate and prosecute people involved in these promotions and you could find yourself the subject of criminal action for mail fraud.
